Pharmaceutical companies set to benefit

Drug companies could earn substantial extra revenues under government-endorsed plans to strengthen collaboration with regulators in order to bring innovative new medicines more quickly to market.

Recommendations made yesterday by Sir David Cooksey, and supported by the chancellor in his speech, would push official agencies to work alongside drug companies as they designed clinical trials, to provide the information required for fast and successful approval of experimental drugs.
