Lebanon’s cabinet wins vote of confidence

Lebanon’s national unity cabinet on Tuesday received an overwhelming vote of approval in parliament for its new policy statement safeguarding the role of Hizbollah party as an armed resistance movement against Israel.

The majority of ministers in the 30-member cabinet are from the anti-Syrian bloc in parliament, which continues to be led by Fouad Siniora, the pro-western prime minister.
