Lower electricity demand has depressed coal prices in recent months, UK Coal said on Monday, although the company’s output remains broadly steady, with some slight declines in surface mining output.

The group said that it was still on track for full-year output of between 6.4m and 6.6m tonnes from its deep mines, although a recent colliery death may delay production for two weeks and reduce that figure to 6.2m tonnes.
