Consumer confidence fall hits dollar

The dollar sank to a record low against the euro and a basket of major currencies on Tuesday after a gauge of American household sentiment dropped to its lowest level in two years.

The US Conference Board’s consumer confidence index fell from 99.5 in September to 95.6 in October, below consensus forecasts for a reading of 99.
