Visa boost for Balkan nations

Citizens of Serbia, Macedonia and Montenegro should be able to travel around most of Europe without visas starting next year, based on recommendations adopted on Wednesday by the European Commission.

The European Union’s administrative body made the move partly as an incentive to the continent’s ethnically sensitive south-eastern areas, to which the 27-state bloc has promised eventual membership.
