Kazakhstan warned on Wednesday it would prosecute local media found advertising a new publication that paints Nursultan Nazarbayev, the president of the oil-rich central Asian country, in an unflattering light.

The book, entitled The Godfather-in-Law and published in Germany last week is the work of Rakhat Aliev, the ex-husband of Mr Nazarbayev’s daughter Dariga Nazarbayeva.
