Europeans take differing positions on prisoners

Condoleezza Rice turned the tables on Europe on Monday, arguing that cooperation with US intelligence required a hard look at how much information can be made public in the war on terror.

Speaking to reporters on her plane before landing in Berlin, the US secretary of state stressed the benefits of being on the side of the US. “Very often these are not plots that are heading for the United States, they are headed for places in Europe,” she said of their intelligence findings.
