NHS move to privatise four agencies angers unions

The National Health Service is to privatise four big agencies which between them pay tens of thousands of pharmacists, dentists and dispensing doctors and provide pensions for more than a million NHS staff.

The move is designed to cut £36m worth of costs by 2008 from organisations that the government currently pays £137m a year to run. It will also slash staff numbers.
