Russia resumes long-haul air missions

Russia will resume, on a permanent basis, long haul missions for its strategic bomber aircraft, Vladimir Putin said on Friday, resurrecting a cold war practice in the latest assertion of Moscow’s military might.

The Russian president said 14 strategic bombers were on Friday sent on long haul sorties to restore “military patrols that from now on will be carried out on a regular basis”.
