Generic sales put Novartis on track for record

Novartis, the world’s sixth largest drugs group, reported consensus beating sales and profits in the third quarter on the back of acquisitions and lower than expected one-off costs.

The Swiss pharmaceuticals group said on Tuesday that net profits rose by 13 per cent to $1.67bn, while sales increased by 19 per cent to $8.42bn.
