Microsoft cuts its divisions to three

Microsoft yesterday respondedto concerns its size was a disadvantage against more nimble rivals by announcing its seven business units would be realigned into three major divisions, each with its own president.

Steve Ballmer, the group's chief executive, said: "These changes are designed to align our business groups in a way that will enhance decision-making and speed of execution."
