Currency hedge fund is liquidated

A foreign exchange hedge fund managed by Avinash Persaud, the academic and currency guru, has gone into liquidation, highlighting the difficulties faced by the sector since 2004.

The Global Asset Management Persaud Global Currency fund closed due to a combination of disappointing performance and a large redemption. The fund had made a loss of 12.7 per cent since its inception in December 2003.
