Decision to halt case ‘may be illegal’

The termination of the Serious Fraud Office investigation into bribery allegations against BAE was greeted with fury by anti-corruption groups and opposition politicians who argued the decision could be illegal.

“I’m genuinely appalled and outraged,” said Norman Lamb, for the Liberal Democrats. “How on earth can we lecture developing countries on the importance of good governance and the rule of law when this is the way we behave ourselves?”
