US stocks rally in late trade

Wall Street stocks rallied strongly into the close on Wednesday after fears that the US economy may fall into recession this year had earlier spurred another bout of heavy selling.

Traders rushed to cover short positions in the final hour of the session with technology stocks leading the surge. Prior to on Wednesday the Nasdaq had fallen for eight consecutive sessions.
