Changes to CGT prompt rush to sell shares

A journalist turned polling expert, the head of an embattled high street department store chain and a TV and film executive were among those who made the 11th-hour dash to sell or transfer shares ahead of this weekend’s changes to capital gains tax.

The eclectic range of names underscores the extent to which business people big and small are feeling the sting of the impending rise in the CGT rate.
