Cost concerns over guaranteed debt remain

Debt markets warmly welcomed the government’s credit guarantee scheme on Monday as the best bit of news heard on a Monday morning in weeks, but bankers and analysts said questions remained unanswered.

The biggest questions concern what kind of investors will purchase government guaranteed bank debt and how steep the cost of using the scheme will prove.
