Robert Parker's controversially high ratings of the 2008 Bordeaux vintage have revived the British wine market, in spite of fears among merchants that the enthusiasm of the influential US critic would make the wines unaffordable.
Tom Hudson, a director at Farr Vintners, the biggest Bordeaux specialist in the UK, said: "The Parker report has given a big boost to the en primeur campaign. . .he made people wake up."
