Shift in demand prompts closure of Chrysler plant

Chrysler will shut a US mini-van assembly plant and cut one of two shifts at a pick-up factory in the latest move by carmakers to adjust North American capacity to the change in demand to more fuel-efficient cars and crossover vehicles.

The cuts will result in 2,400 job losses at the plants, which are both in St Louis.
