Food and drink companies and retailers have made a big impact on this year’s shortlist for the Business in the Community Awards for Excellence.

Out of 65 entries short-listed for the national awards, 18 are from food companies or retailers, including big players Boots, Cadbury Trebor Bassett, Marks and Spencer and Tesco, and small specialists. Two short-listed food manufacturers, Kraft and Danone, are first-time entrants to the awards. Of the 114 entries awarded a Big Tick for achieving a high standard, 29 are from retailers or food and drink companies.
