Bush hails ‘historic victory’

George W. Bush on Wednesday won a second term as president with a clear majority of the popular vote, after John Kerry conceded defeat and called on the president to unite a divided America.

“We had a long night and a great night. The voters turned out in record numbers. And delivered an historic victory,” Mr Bush told an enthusiastic crowd of supporters in Washington DC.
