Backing for Germany on state aid

Germany will on Wednesday announce that Britain and France are joining its fight against proposed Brussels state aid rules, which aim to stamp out “untransparent” deals between business and government.

The political coup by Michael Glos, German economics minister, could help mend the frayed relationship between German business and chancellor Angela Merkel’s “grand coalition” of Christian and Social Democrats.
