Arun Sarin must be one of the few iPhone owners who finds Apple's slick handset "a pretty poor experience".

His criticism of the device's reliance on slow, second-generation mobile networks could be dismissed as sour grapes - after all, Vodafone lost the battle to become iPhone's exclusive UK network operator. But Mr Sarin concedes the mobile telephone-cum-entertainment device is an industry-changing innovation.
