Recently, James McArthur, the chief executive of Balenciaga, bought a pair of Balenciaga sunglasses on eBay. He didn’t buy them for himself; he bought them for his company.

Laudomia Pucci, vice-chairman of Pucci, also likes to frequent the site. Her prey: Pucci (or anything purporting to be Pucci), though, like Mr McArthur, she’s buying for her brand rather than herself.
