Agco chief ploughs a difficult furrow

Martin Richenhagen, the chief executive of Agco, the world’s third-biggest tractor maker, has spent much of the past two years trying to finalise a deal that he had hoped would give his company a leading position in China.

But Mr Richenhagen has grown frustrated over Beijing’s refusal to allow Agco to take a majority stake in First Tractor, a state-controlled company that is the country’s biggest tractor maker.
