Pierre Baer believes the global financial crisis has provided a useful corrective to some of the mistakes he has witnessed in the private banking industry.

The Société Générale Private Banking chief executive for Singapore and south Asia says too many private bankers had grown to rely on pushing in-house products to their clients while ignoring their real investment needs, a strategy that was cruelly exposed by the market downturn over the past year.
