China’s developers have pig of a year

Until only a few months ago, property developers in China thought they were at the forefront of one of the great booms of the age, the fastest urbanisation in history.

Even in China, however, where the financial system has been relatively isolated from the global meltdown, a sharp downturn in the property market has caused many companies to rethink their plans.
