Good fit takes Henderson into retail market

The acquisition of racy New Star by its more restrained rival Henderson makes for an unlikely match.

Founded in 2001 by the buccaneering John Duffield, New Star is known for its marketing and advertising campaigns as much as its big-name fund managers, while Henderson’s understated image dates back to 1934 when it was established to administer the estate of Alexander Henderson, the first Lord Faringdon.
