Sir, The letters (November 15/16) commenting on Ken Lotery’s letter (November 8/9) seem to have missed his point: your editorial “Plastic is forever” (October 31) criticised MasterCard’s diamond-encrusted “Royale” card as a display of conspicuous consumption, while your How to Spend It magazine advocates the same.
