Arcapita, Bahrain’s privately-held Islamic investment firm

Atif Abdulmalik, founder of Bahrain’s Arcapita, has overseen the Shariah-compliant investment firm since 1997. The Bahraini national, educated in Texas, has delivered an annual growth rate of 30 per cent, with $4.7bn (£2.4bn) of assets currently under management. Mr Abdulmalik came to Arcapita from Bahrain’s Investcorp, the private equity firm that started investing in overseas assets in the oil boom of the 1980s.
