Consolidation has hit financial industry groups as the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association and the London Investment Banking Association have merged their London-based operations into a single European organisation.

The new body, known as the Association for Financial Markets in Europe, will be chaired by Gaël de Boissard , head of global securities at Credit Suisse.
