BSkyB refuses to broadcast Gaza appeal

British Sky Broadcasting on Monday joined the BBC in refusing to broadcast an appeal for victims of violence in Gaza, as protests against the position intensified.

Mark Thompson, the director-general of the BBC, said that if he backtracked and showed the appeal on behalf of the Disasters Emergency Committee, a charity umbrella group, he would endanger the BBC’s reputation for impartiality.
