Clinton win defies conventional wisdom

Hillary Clinton’s stunning victory over Barack Obama in New Hampshire on Tuesday night turns conventional wisdom about the Democratic presidential race on its head – for the second time in seven days.

Utterly belying the opinion polls on Tuesday morning, which showed Barack Obama leading Mrs Clinton by between seven and 13 percentage points following his comfortable victory in Iowa last week, New Hampshire’s voters returned Mrs Clinton by a margin of two per cent.
