Ubiquitous bank wins adviser title

UBS’s presence on the winning side of many of Europe’s largest mergers and acquisitions during 2007 has helped it snare the title of overall Financial Adviser of the Year in the inaugural Financial Times and Mergermarket M&A Awards.

The Swiss bank impressed the judges for advising on some of Europe’s highest-profile transactions, providing counsel to ABN Amro on the sale of LaSalle, its US business, as well as advising the Dutch lender on its subsequent €71bn ($103.8bn) sale to the consortium led by Royal Bank of Scotland.
