Fed minutes likely to show rate debate

The Federal Reserve will on Tuesday reveal the thinking behind the decision to pause its interest rate-tightening campaign, with the publication of the minutes of its August 8 rate-setting meeting. It is likely that this will result in a choppy day in financial markets.

Since the last meeting the market has progressively scaled back its expectations of further Fed tightening on the back of weak housing market data.
