The crash that ended the Concorde’s run

Air France Flight 4590, a supersonic Concorde aircraft, crashed shortly after taking off from Paris Charles de Gaulle airport on July 25 2000, killing all 109 on board and four people on the ground.

A French investigation into the crash determined that a metal strip that came off an Continental Airlines DC-10 aircraft using the runway earlier had punctured a tyre on the Concorde, triggering a chain of events that caused the aircraft to ignite.
