Europe’s reformers will be following Swedish politics closely over the next two years to see whether “Juncker’s curse” claims another victim.

Highlighting the political perils of economic reform, Jean-Claude Juncker, Luxembourg’s prime minister and president of the Eurogroup of eurozone finance ministers, once famously joked: “We all know what to do. It’s just we don’t know how to get re-elected after we’ve done it.”
