Retaliation tactic buoys Iranian sense of victory

Iran's muscle-flexing behaviour during the crisis over the captured sailors and marines has been perceived as a victory in Iran, which may embolden those who favour tactical retaliations in other international issues.

The country has adopted fairly low-profile, rhetorical responses to months of intense international pressure over its nuclear programme at the United Nations Security Council and the arrest of five Iranian officials in northern Iraq in January.
