Mecom buys Orkla's publishing business

Norway's Orkla has sold its media business to Mecom, the Aim-listed investment vehicle of David Montgomery, the former chief executive of the Mirror Group of papers in the UK, while simultaneously buying a stake in the company.

The deal follows a series of acquisitions by Mecom, which has been seeking to build a stable of European publishing assets since its flotation in March 2005.
