Global trade: Outlook for agreements nears moment of truth

Are the 150 members of the World Trade Organisation really serious this time? After four years of desultory talks, repeated setbacks and numerous missed deadlines, their efforts to complete the Doha global trade round are fast approaching the moment of truth.

The expiry in July next year of US trade promotion authority, which Washington needs to negotiate trade agreements, has set a de facto end-point for the WTO talks.
