In normal circumstances, the word "securitisation" does not readily grace the lips of senior American politicians. But these are not entirely normal times as far as some Washington legislators are concerned.
For as the fallout spreads from America's subprime housing woes, the finger-pointing is spreading in Washington. More specifically, some senior politicians are scurrying to find ways to reassure voters that they will "clean up" the subprime sector - by clamping down on the practices that have created it.
