Biden to go on ‘fact-finding mission’

Manmohan Singh, India’s prime minister, blamed the Pakistani state on Tuesday for assisting the terrorists responsible for the devastating attack on Mumbai in a sweeping accusation that has escalated tension between the two nuclear-armed neighbours.

In a sign of deepening anxiety over Pakistan’s response to the attacks, the US said on Tuesday that Joe Biden, the vice-president-elect, would visit the region this week as part of a Senate “fact-finding mission”.
