The return of Prince Harry from Afghanistan took the glare off Michael Martin, Speaker of the House of Commons, but the UK’s weekend papers did not entirely let go of the controversy over his expenses.

Mr Martin did win one battle last week when John Lyon, the parliamentary commissioner for standards, said there was no rule preventing the speaker giving his family air miles he had accumulated on official business.
