US accounting regulator to step down

The head of the independent US accounting regulator on Friday announced he was stepping down from the job.

William McDonough, who became chairman of the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board in June 2003, said he would leave on November 30 or when his successor is appointed, whichever is sooner.
