Manmohan Singh met Asif Ali Zardari briefly on Tuesday, the first face-to-face encounter of the Indian and Pakistani leaders since November’s Mumbai terrorist attacks raised tensions between the nuclear-armed neighbours, writes Amy Kazmin in New Delhi.
During their meeting, seen as a first step towards repairing damaged relations, Mr Singh, India’s prime minister, urged the Pakistani president to crack down on militant groups that are using his country as a base from which to attack India.
