Begbies warns of business failure ‘deluge’

Thousands of businesses have avoided immediate financial difficulties as a result of the government’s tax holiday scheme – but business failures are likely to rise sharply next year since the relief is merely temporary, Begbies Traynor has warned.

The restructuring specialist said the number of companies showing signs of significant or critical problems in the third quarter fell from 154,236 to last year to 133,514.
