Political focus switches back to field of fission

Nuclear power, the energy source that has hardly dared speak its name for more than 20 years, is suddenly back on the political agenda. Fears that Britain will fail to meet climate change targets without atomic energy are forcing politicians to reconsider whether ageing nuclear stations may have to be replaced, after all.

Controversial decisions, however, may not have to be made quickly. The alternative could be squeezing more out of existing plants.
