US economic growth revised up to 3.5%

Stronger exports helped push up US economic growth in the first quarter to 3.5 per cent from earlier estimates of 3.1 per cent. The revision, which was expected, was also bolstered by stronger consumer and business spending.

The figure was still slower than in the final quarter last year when gross domestic product grew by 3.8 per cent.
