Fiat celebrates as it ends year debt-free

Fiat’s chief executive on Thursday celebrated the first year the Italian industrial group had finished without any debt since 1998 and criticised ratings agencies that had not yet restored Fiat’s investment grade rating.

Sergio Marchionne, who has presided over an astonishing turnround from near bankruptcy, said he was “somewhat disappointed” that Moody’s had on Thursday confirmed its same sub-investment grade rating.
