Treasury minister quits over expenses

Gordon Brown has suffered the loss of a minister to expense allegations after Kitty Ussher, a junior Treasury minister, quit to spare the government “embarrassment”.

Ms Ussher stepped down on Wednesday night after reports that she took advice to avoid capital gains tax on a property transaction and “flipped” the designation of her second home.
