Murders linked to probation failings

Catastrophic failings across the criminal justice system contributed to the horrific murders of two French students in south London, it emerged on Thursday.

Jack Straw, justice secretary, has personally apologised to the families of Gabriel Ferez and Laurent Bonomo, who were stabbed more than 200 times in a sadistic, drug and drink-fuelled attack in June last year.
